Halloween
DIY toddler costume
When I was growing up my mom ALWAYS made my costume. I never had a store bought costume. We would go look at the pattern books, I would choose the most extravagant pattern there was and then my mom would push towards something without a need for 50 yards of tulle. Then we would walk around all of the fabric.
I was never good at picking out fabric. I could never envision the final piece. I always wanted to pick the fabric that matched the picture on the pattern because it usually looked good. My mom never let me, she would keep telling me that it could be ANY fabric I wanted.
So because I always had hand made custom costumes I feel that it is my motherly duty to do the same for Elisabeth. The only teeny tiny microscopic issue is that I can't sew. I made a square pillow once that wasn't that square. I have a sewing machine. I got it for Christmas last year. It's only been out of the box a couple of times and that is for my mom to make something.
So I set off on my internet research, and Pinterest hunting. I read a lot and after I decided what E was going to be I went in search of an easy way to do it. And in true me style I decided I could do it more difficult then I probably should.
Last night I started on the top part of Elisabeth's costume. I'm using the wrong color thread. Oops, but all in all it's coming together OK. I'm going to try it on her tonight and make some adjustments to size. Wish me luck!
What is your baby being for Halloween? Are you going to try and make it yourself? Can you sew?
