GracoSafety
Last week I was invited to a very special event to check out Graco's brand new carseat; the SnugRide Click Connect 40!
A group of fabulous Philadelphia area bloggers are met up and were treated to a special presentation on the importance of carseat safety. We learned the proper way to install a carseat, how to correctly buckle our children into them, and some statistics on the overall safety of carseats.
My Top Ten Carseat Safety Facts {that I learned}
1. Toddlers are FIVE times safer rear facing {Remember rear facing until 2}
2. You should attach your car seat to your back seat by either the latch system OR with the seat belt. DO NOT USE BOTH! Both is not safer.
3. Do not put ANYTHING on the carseat that it didn't come with. This includes toys, the summer time seat coolers, and ANYTHING that did not come standard with your carseat.
4. The middle seat in the back is the safest place for you child regardless or rear or forward facing.
5. Make sure the clip of the carseat is on your child's chest at armpit level.
6. The straps of the carseat should be at or below the shoulders, NOT above.
7. The straps should be snug.
8. NEVER place a rear facing seat in the forward facing position.
9. Get your carseat checked out my a certified carseat specialist.
10. No puffy coats or big oversized blankets between your child and the carseat restraints
Now the Graco SnugRide Click Connect 40 is AWESOME because it goes from 4 lbs to 40 lbs. The base has 8 different locations so that a newborn can be reclined and a toddler can be upright.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recently made the recommendation to keep all children in rear-facing car seats until the age of 2. Graco set out to make this product so parents can keep infants rear facing longer while still keeping them comfortable.
