Did you know that while The Mister and I were on our
honeymoon in Mexico we had
to take an unplanned trip to the ER in Cancun? No?
Well we did. I woke up from a mid
day nap and my eye burned and hurt so bad I was ready to go home early. {We had only been there three days and had
planned on staying ten}
The doctor on our resort couldn’t see anything wrong with my
eye and sent via ambulance 45 minutes away to a Mexican hospital. I was in pain, I was cranky, and I was a
little nervous going to a hospital in Mexico.
The nurses there were AMAZING! They put me immediately at ease and tried to
make me as comfortable as possible. Not
only did one stay with me the entire time we were waiting to be seen by an eye
doctor {yeah the nurses called in an actual ophthalmologist for me}, but they
made sure that EVERYTHING was OK and taken care of for me.
It was because of those nurses calling in an actual board
certified ophthalmologist that The Mister and I were able to stay on our
honeymoon and enjoy ourselves. {I had a
scratched cornea; apparently it is very common and extremely painful} The ER doctor wanted to just give me some
medicine to treat for that, but the nurses insisted on calling in the eye
specialist. It was because of them that
I was able to not only relax, but enjoy the rest of my honeymoon.

I was just thinking about what we would do if something happened to Ellie when we were there last week. Good to know for the future how great the medical staff is there!
